When I was a little kid, my dad and grandfather hunted. They had hounds and guns. When I got older, in our bluecollar household, a big treat was for Pop to take us up to the town dump on Sunday morning after mass and shoot rats. Yeh, sounds a bit like Al Kapp's Dogpatch, I know. But I still recall it as quality time. Point is, guns were a part of NORMAL life. Nobody I knew ever shot anybody. Think about it.
