Net closes around Julian Assange and Wikileaks

The Wikileaks guy was in court today in London, fighting a request from Sweden to extradite him on rape charges. His lawyers say this is all a ruse to eventually get him shipped off to the US. That wouldn't surprise this old cynic. Sounds a bit too convenient that he is suddenly accused of sexual misconduct.

Meanwhile, web browsers are dropping Wikileaks, MasterCard reportedly has cut the site's line of credit, and other forms of pressure are being applied to shut down operations.

It's hard to believe that Uncle Sam was so stupid as to let a buck private have access to all those confidential and secret documents. But once aroused, our Uncle can be very fierce, indeed. Assange is just beginning to learn how fierce, I feel.
