UCLA Chemistry Prof avoids jail time in plea bargain of lab safety case.

Five years ago one of his students was burned to death because she mishandled a combustible substance. Blaming the accident on failure to train, two years ago the city charged the prof with a crime. Now he gets community service in lieu of jail time.
